Visit a nearly 200-year-old traditional Lappish farmhouse and meet the reindeer at Torassieppi Eco Reindeer Resort. This insightful 3-hour experience offers a unique look into Lappish culture, reindeer herding traditions, and life in Lapland, past and present.

Start of the Experience

Your visit begins at the Torassieppi Eco Reindeer Resort farm, where your guide will welcome you and take you on a journey through time.

What to Expect

You’ll explore the original buildings and learn about the history of the reindeer farm, the structures, and their interiors. Many of the old furnishings, tools, and everyday items are still in place, offering a real sense of how people once lived in this remote part of the North. You’ll also visit the small museum and meet the reindeer living beside it. There’s a chance to feed the reindeer and try your hand at throwing a suopunki – the traditional Lappish lasso. The visit ends with a warm cup of black pot coffee or tea, prepared over an open fire in a Lappish teepee.

Responsible Reindeer Treatment

Our reindeer live in spacious enclosures during the winter and spend the summer roaming freely in nature. In the winter working season, they typically work 2–5 days a week. Each day includes feeding, close monitoring, and plenty of time to rest. With a plant-based diet, regular veterinary care, and a calm routine, the reindeer stay healthy and stress-free continuing a way of life that has shaped Lapland for generations.
