Day of Arrival – Into the Wilderness with Your Husky Team
Welcome to Lapland! Upon landing at Kittilä Airport (KTT) or arriving at Kolari railway station, you’ll be transferred to Harriniva Adventure Resort. There, you’ll meet your guide, pick up your winter gear, and get an introduction to the days ahead. You’ll also meet your own team of huskies, pack the sleds, and learn how to handle the sled and mush safely. Your guide will walk you through the full itinerary and everything you need to know from daily routines to caring for the dogs, so you’re fully prepared for the journey. Once ready, you’ll head straight into the wilderness on your first husky safari, travelling through snowy forest trails to your remote wilderness cabin. In the evening, enjoy a hearty dinner prepared by your wilderness chef and settle in for the night.
Day 2 & Day 3
Start your day with a hearty breakfast and get your husky team ready. Together with your guide and group, you’ll harness the dogs and prepare the sleds for the days adventure. Spend both days mushing deeper into the wilderness, caring for your huskies and exploring snow-covered forests, frozen lakes, and the scenic edge of the national park.
The route covers 20–30 km per day, adapted to the group and conditions. A picnic lunch is enjoyed during the day, followed by a relaxing sauna and a hearty dinner prepared by your wilderness chef back at the cabin. Overnights in wilderness cabin.
Departure Day
Enjoy your final wilderness breakfast before preparing your husky team for the final stretch of the journey back to the resort. Once you arrive, it’s time to thank your team, return your gear, and get ready for your transfer to the airport or train station. If you’d like to extend your experience in Lapland, ask us about availability for an extra night in our hotel rooms or Northern Lights accommodation.
Accommodation
Your base for the adventure is a remote wilderness cabin, tucked deep in nature; quiet, peaceful, and far from the lights and sounds of the city. With no streetlights and wide-open skies, it’s the perfect setting for spotting the northern lights. The cabin offers shared sleeping quarters and simple, atmospheric surroundings that reflect authentic life in the Arctic.
Facilities are rustic: limited access to electricity, a traditional Finnish wood-heated sauna for washing, and a wilderness toilet without running water. And if you’re feeling brave, a refreshing roll in the snow after the sauna makes for a true Nordic experience.
Important information
To participate in this tour, you should arrive either with a morning flight to Kittilä Airport (KTT) or by night train to Kolari. Extra nights in our resorts are available before or after the tour, just ask us about availability. 3-days husky safari is not suitable for children. We recommend this safari only for those aged 18 and over due to long days in the wilderness and varying weather conditions. There are no shared driving possibilities. Should you wish to discontinue your overnight husky safari for reasons other than emergency evacuation, you will be charged an evacuation fee of 460€ per person. Evacuation fee covers the pickup from the wilderness and additional fee according
to available accommodation is also charged.
