Where is Fell-Lapland area?

Nestled in the heart of West-Lapland, Fell-Lapland area is a pristine wilderness that offers a unique blend of natural beauty, arctic phenomena, and fascinating facts. Fell-Lapland consists of four municipalities, Muonio, Enontekiö, Kittilä and Kolari. Each has its own distinct fellscape. In Muonio Pallas fells offer us a variety of activities in picturesque landscape throughout the year.

Fell-Lapland area is a landscape sculpted by time and nature. The region is characterized by its majestic fells, dense forests, serene lakes, and expansive swamps. The fells, or fjells, rise above the horizon, offering breathtaking views and challenging hikes. The forests are rich with wildlife and provide a tranquil escape from the hustle and bustle of everyday life. The lakes and swamps are teeming with life, offering opportunities for fishing, bird watching, and simply enjoying the serene beauty of the water.

Fell nature

Muonio has over 20 fells, from which 10 are easily reachable from our destinations. Most of them have a ready made trail to the top, some of them are free to wander. You can choose from variety of distances for you adventure, from 2 km up to 80 km

Fells and lakes together create a breathtaking national landscape. You can see far in Muonio. Here you can find one of the highest points in Finland where you can watch the sun. Taivaskero (809 m) is, as its name suggests, the highest of the fells in the national park, and you can climb it all year round. At the top there is a commemorative stone from the 1952 Olympics. There, a “shadow fire” was lit from the midnight sun, which was run through Finland.

Midnight sun

During the summer months, the sun never sets, bathing the landscape in a golden glow and allowing for endless days of exploration and adventure.

Extended Daylight: The sun doesn’t dip below the horizon, creating a surreal experience where it feels like daytime even at midnight. This extended daylight allows for more time to explore and enjoy outdoor activities.

Golden Glow: The sun hovers low in the sky, casting a warm, golden light that bathes the landscape in a unique glow. This is perfect for photography and simply soaking in the beauty of nature.

Endless Activities: With the extra daylight, you can hike, fish, or even play golf at midnight. The continuous light also provides a unique opportunity to experience nature in a different way, with wildlife being more active during these hours.

Arctic by Cycle



Conquer the fells, feel the gravel, enjoy the silent forest paths or stick with tarmac, Muonio has it all. Our selected tracks vary in lenght from 15 km to 85 km.

Rafting & canoeing

Muonio area has over 200 lakes and several rivers to paddle. We offer also riverrafting in Muoniojoki joki river – the longest free running river in Europe.

Our rivers and lakes are suitable for kanoes, packrafts, trek and wildwater kayaking not to mention wildwater rafts.

You can do multi-day paddling tours along the rivers or just enjoy the fell scenery next to our destinations lakes!

Muonio is an excellent destination for winter activities due to its 7 months of winter topped with the cleanest air in the world.

Our activities take place in different areas, you’ll explore frozen lakes, swamps, forests and open fells. And if you’re lucky you might run into other people also!

Our destinations are located next to waters and forest areas free for you to roam.
