In the heart of Lapland
Muonio is a small village on the Muonio river, which forms the border between Finland and Sweden, well north of the Arctic Circle. Pallas-Yllästunturi National Park, with its snowy fells and quiet forests, is right next door.
Our family has hosted guests here since 1973. Our huskies and reindeer live with us, and our own guides lead every activity in your Christmas package.

Under the aurora oval
The northern lights appear in a ring around the Earth’s magnetic pole, known as the auroral oval. Muonio lies beneath it, so on clear, dark nights there is a real chance of seeing the sky come alive.
December nights are long here. You can look for the auroras right from the resort yard, or join a guided aurora excursion. The Aurora Christmas Adventure includes two of them. The northern lights are nature, so no one can promise them, but we know where to look.

When can I spend Christmas at Harriniva?
Our Christmas packages are 3 or 4 nights long and run from late November until Christmas. You can book online at Harriniva Adventure Resort from 26.11. to 20.12.2026 and at Jeris Lakeside Resort from 28.11. to 3.12.2026. For Christmas week and other dates, please contact our sales team at sales@harriniva.fi.
Which Christmas package should I choose?
Bucket List Christmas Break is made for families with children of all ages and includes a private Santa visit. Aurora Christmas Adventure is for adults and families with children aged 12 and over, and includes two northern lights excursions, by snowmobile and by car.
What is included in the Christmas packages?
Accommodation for 3–4 nights, full board with coffee and tea, one special Christmas dinner, warm winter clothing for your stay, return transfers from Kittilä Airport or Kolari Railway Station, and the guided activities of your package. Flights and train or bus tickets are not included.
Will we see the northern lights?
There is a good chance. Muonio lies beneath the auroral oval, so on clear, dark nights the northern lights can often be seen right from the hotel yard, and our Aurora Alert service tells you when they appear. The Aurora Christmas Adventure includes two guided aurora excursions, and in both packages you can add aurora activities as extras.
How do I get to Harriniva?
Fly to Kittilä Airport or take the train to Kolari Railway Station. Return transfers from either one to your resort in Muonio are included. See Getting here for details.
Can I add more activities?
Yes. Optional extras include Arctic Sauna World, the Aurora Reindeer Experience and the Aurora Evening Walk. Each package page lists the extras available for that package.
Which rooms can I book online?
At Harriniva Adventure Resort: Standard Triple Room, Wilderness Room, Wilderness Big Loft, Arctic Log Cabin and Arctic Glass Suite. At Jeris Lakeside Resort: Standard Room and Arctic Sky Nest. For other room types, please contact our sales team.
Can I cancel my booking?
Christmas packages booked online use a non-refundable rate. Please read our General Terms & Conditions before booking, and contact our sales team if you have any questions.
